We’re glad you’re doing better now. Generally, to protect your health you’re not able to donate after a stroke.

In some exceptional circumstances, if your stroke was caused by a congenital heart condition, you may be able to donate if the condition has resolved or was corrected by surgery at least 6 months ago. Please give us a call on 131495 and ask to speak to a Medical Officer so we can find out more.

Don't be disappointed if you’re unable to donate, because there are other ways you can help. You can spread the word about how donating saves lives on social media (find us @lifebloodau), register your intent to be an organ donor (if you’re 16 or over), or support the great humanitarian work of the Australian Red Cross.
